Tyler Rice '98
REQUEST: Dear friends,
We learned very recently that the army national guard plans to deploy our youngest son, Tyler, to Iraq. Tyler has had his first teaching job this year doing K-8 music and band in Kentucky. After teaching two months, he was deployed to the Gulf Coast to help with hurricane victims. He was pulled out early from that assignment to be transferred to a unit that is going to Iraq. He is a lieutenant in the national guard, and will lead an infantry company of about 50 men; their mission at this point will be to escort convoys. He has expressed courage and confidence, and says he is ready to serve his country. He reports for duty tomorrow to Greenville, KY for a couple of weeks, and then to Camp Shelby in Mississippi. It is possible they will go to Iraq in January, dates not yet certain. It is estimated now to be a total deployment of about 16 months.
Tyler, DA class of 98, was married to Suzanne last March. Ron and I ask for your prayers for Tyler and our family as we go through these times. Please also pray for the men under his command and their families. Your continued prayers mean so much to all of us. Let there be peace on earth. Amen.
Yours in Christ,
Pam Rice
