The federal Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) requires that each primary and secondary school in the nation complete a stringent inspection for asbestos and develop a plan of management for all asbestos-containing materials.
Davidson Academy has had asbestos management plans prepared for all buildings on our campus. These plans are available for your inspection Monday through Friday during regular school days and normal school hours at the Business Office located in the Lower School Building.
The areas in our buildings where asbestos is present are in very good condition. Surveillance is done every six months, and all areas are inspected by a certified inspector every three years. The accredited inspectors not only check the condition of asbestos but also reassess operations and maintenance procedures that will keep this asbestos-containing material in safe condition. An operation and maintenance program is used to keep the asbestos in good condition. The inspection report and management plan is located in the Business Office.
If you have any further questions, contact Randy Jones, Davidson Academy’s designated person for asbestos. He may be contacted by telephone at 615-860-5331.
