Mr. Paul Decker
Dr. Bill Chaney
Davidson Academy
Headmaster

First, thank you for your prayers and continued encouragement as we make progress with our strategic vision for the future.

American Constructors, Inc., has been selected by the Building Committee as Davidson Academy’s contractor for the Hendersonville campus. American Constructors has extensive experience in building schools, including Brentwood Academy, Donelson Christian Academy, Father Ryan High School, Montgomery Bell Academy, Pope John Paul II High School and University School of Nashville.

American Constructors recently reviewed the preliminary design of our new campus and presented an estimated project cost to the Building Committee. Due to differences between the preliminary pre-design estimates and the estimated construction costs, we are reconfiguring the campus design, including the layout/master plan and the number and size of the buildings. This process is causing an adjustment in the construction timeline. The architects and engineers have returned to the schematic conceptual phase of design work, which will result in a delay in working drawings and groundbreaking.

We want to be certain that the campus layout and master plan are refined so that we build the finest campus possible for our dollars. As you know, we strive to be thoughtful stewards of all our resources in order to meet all financial obligations associated with operating Davidson Academy without exorbitant tuition increases.

Progress is ongoing, and while the campus design and construction are taking somewhat longer than we had first hoped, our relocation is certain and has generated outstanding community response. Our Mother's Day Out and K3 programs have already reached capacity for next school year, and applications for enrollment have been steadily increasing. Parents interested in enrolling their children for the 2007-2008 school year are encouraged to do so as soon as possible by contacting Darlyne Kent at (615) 860-5307 or dkent@davidsonacademy.com.

We will keep you fully informed of progress as the planning for the new Hendersonville campus moves forward. We are confident the careful decisions being made will effectively equip Davidson Academy to be even more successful in fulfilling its mission for the long term. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding plans for the new campus, please call me directly at (615) 860-5302.

Thank you again for your prayers and support during this dynamic and rewarding process. Enjoy a wonderful spring break.

Sincerely,

Bill Chaney
Headmaster, Davidson Academy
