Goldberg Among Five Local High School Students Honored at YW Academy for Women of Achievement Event

On Tuesday, October 17, five local female high school seniors were honored by the YW Academy for Women of Achievement for making a significant impact by serving their communities in consistent, creative and committed ways.

“This year's event theme, ‘Past, Present and Future,' celebrated AWA's 15th year by recognizing promising young female leaders in addition to past and current inductees,” said Pat Shea, chief executive offi cer of the YW. “The five outstanding young women chosen were selected based on the quality of their high school and community activities and their positive impact on others. We are delighted to recognize their spirit for volunteerism, and acknowledge the remarkable impact they will have on future generations.”

The 2006 outstanding student honorees are: Paige Lynn Garrard, Hillwood High School; Lauren Nicole Goldberg, Davidson Academy; Haley Antoinette Halpin, Father Ryan High School; Jasmine Elise McGee, East Literature Magnet; and Candi Louise Springer, Maplewood Comprehensive High School.

Lauren Nicole Goldberg, a senior at Davidson Academy, maintains a 4.26 grade point average. She plans to study business and fi nance and attend law school or work toward an MBA. Goldberg is a student tutor and volunteers for Hurricane Katrina relief.

  Lauren Nicole Goldberg
