Following are lists of required reading for students entering grades seven through 12 in the fall of 2011. Students will be tested on these books during the first day of class; therefore, these books should be completed before the first day of school. Students in grades K-6 are also expected to participate in summer reading, and each teacher has provided a grade-specific list of suggested titles from which students may choose.
Summer reading packets, with instructions on what is expected, will be distributed during the final week of classes in the students' English classes. They will also be available in the Upper School front office during the summer break.

Keep a Reader's Journal in which you write about each book. As you read the book, note your reactions during each reading session. These reactions could include comments about the characters, the setting, the author's style (diction and syntax, etc.), quoting a sentence, phrase, or short passage that interests you or seems important, agreement or disagreement with the message of the author, or you may be inspired to respond with a poem or personal reflections.
Due Date:
Your Reader's Journal will be due on the first day of school and testing over summer reading will begin on that day.
