Chaney Scholars

The Chaney Scholars Program recognized Davidson Academy students who have pursued and excelled in an intense academic study.
  • Students recognized as Chaney Scholars must meet the following criteria:
  • Three years of the same foreign language
  • Minimum of five honors courses
  • Minimum of 3 Advanced Placement courses including at least two core academic disciplines.
  • Overall numeric average of 90 or higher
  • ACT composite of 25 or higher


ACT ASPIRE Test is taken by Grades 3-8 each spring (English, reading, writing, mathematics, science)


PSAT is taken by Grades 10-11 each fall as a preliminary test for the SAT and the qualifying test for the National Merit Competition for Juniors.

Pre-ACT is taken by Grade 9.

Pareto ACT is taken by Grades 10-11. This is a practice ACT which includes an individualized ACT prep program.

ACT is taken by Grade 11 in the spring.
