Meet Sam Huber

Grade: 12th
How long have you been a student at DA?
I started in PK3 so I’ve been here 15 years!
What is your favorite thing about DA?
My favorite thing about DA is that everything we do is Christ-focused.
Which class has been your favorite and why?
My favorite class has been calculus because of the fun atmosphere. Our teacher, Mrs. Welsh, does a fantastic job of helping us want to learn and enjoy school.
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
I would say the classroom environment is very welcoming, encouraging, and fun.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
My favorite DA tradition is the DA retreat. The DA retreat is an incredible opportunity to bond with teachers, peers, and with God. The DA retreat is filled with incredible activities and fun!
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I am involved in the Tennis Club, I am an FCA leader, a member of Student Council, and Key Club.
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
Student Council is an incredible opportunity to step up and lead among your peers. It is an awesome opportunity to bond with other people in your grade and in other grades. It has helped me grow as a leader and as an individual.
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school.  How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
DA is a school where everything is focused on Christ. In all subjects from Government to Foundations of the Faith, Christ is mentioned and taught. It has been an incredible experience to grow up in a school where I am challenged to learn scripture and look back to what God's Word says about specific topics and issues.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I would say that DA is an incredible school built on fun and on Christ. It has furthered my walk with Christ so much. I love DA because of the atmosphere and the incredible teaching abilities of all the teachers here.
What has DA taught you about being a leader?
DA has showed me that being a leader doesn't need to be in a high role somewhere. Being a leader can be something as little as picking up trash or holding the door for someone. Being a leader is something done with integrity and done without pride.
What activities do you participate in outside of school?
I am currently helping lead a ministry called Movement Ministry. I am also part of the student lead team at our church.
