Meet McKinlee Stockton

Name: McKinlee Stockton

Grade: 10th

How long have you been a student at DA? 3 years

What is your favorite thing about DA?
I love the culture here.

Which class has been your favorite and why?
My favorite class would be Mrs. Breece’s bible class because she is so passionate about helping us build our relationship with Christ and learning about the firm foundation He has made. She also teaches us that we need to know who we are and know what our relationship with Jesus is.

How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
The environment is very encouraging and gives every student the opportunity to step up, share, and learn from others. As a class, we often find ourselves helping one another while developing our communication skills and learning valuable lessons from each other.

What is your favorite DA tradition? The pre-game Bear Walk in The Grove.

What activities are you involved in at DA?
Softball, volleyball, Beta Club, Culinary Club, Leave a Legacy, FCA,HOSA, and Passion For The Paws.

Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
I came to DA looking for a change and to play sports. When I started here, everyone on the varsity softball team was so kind when I was brought up to the team. They welcomed me with open arms and a smile, which made me feel like I was part of the team right away.

Davidson Academy is a God-focused school. How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
I’m so blessed to go to a school where I can start and end class in prayer and openly talk about what the Lord has done for me and my family. Every Bible class has its own meaning and it’s such a great opportunity to see the different perspectives of the Bible from different teachers’ points of view.

What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I would tell them that God has a plan for them and we hope that the plan is from them to be with us! We are so excited to hear about their journey so far and it’s a blessing to see how we can help them!

What has DA taught you about being a leader?
DA has helped me grow in confidence to step up and make a positive change. If I see that something needs to be done, I can pray about it and trust that God has placed me in that moment for a reason and an opportunity to make a difference.

What activities do you participate in outside of school?
I play travel softball and club volleyball.
