Admissions

New Family Information

Welcome to Davidson Academy!
We are SO excited to have your family with us this year and the admissions office is here to help ease your transition.  Please call or email us with any questions that may arise during the process.  We are here for YOU and are so glad you're a DA BEAR!

List of 18 items.

  • Are new students required to complete the 'Summer Reading' assignments?

We encourage our new students to complete the summer assignments.  If you are transferring in closer to the start date of school, then we completely understand the impossibility.  You can find our reading and assignment lists below:

    High School Summer Assignments

    Middle School Summer Assignments

Elementary School Summer Assignments (Coming Soon)
  • Are there new student functions to be aware of?

Yes!  DA has a few new family functions around the start of school and we will have those dates very soon.

We have a 'parent contact' list of our current parents who have offered to be grade level liaisons for our new families.  A list of them will be given to you in your new student packet.
  • How and when do we purchase Bear Wear?

Every Friday is Bear Wear Day at DA!  The Bear Wear trailer sits in front of the lower school building and is open every Friday morning (weather permitting) from 7:30 - 8:15.  DA Bear Wear is also available at 'Back to School Bash' and every home football game.
  • How does the cafeteria program work?

Students can either bring their own lunch (microwaves are available) or purchase lunch from our cafeteria program.  Their school id card is what they use to charge it to your account.  To set up your account through SAGE dining, please visit THIS LINK.  Our menus are posted for parents each week on the parent portal.
  • I can't get signed in to my MAGNUS Health account?

There will be some frustrations with logging into Magnus to begin filling out your health information as prompted by the auto generated emails.   Your link will go "live" on July 1 when we change grade levels with all of our students.  Our existing families are able to currently log in, but new families are still coded as "incoming" so the link is there but not active.  On July 1, you will become "current" students thus unlocking the system so you can begin to fill out all the necessary information and upload any sports physicals.  Our apologies as we know this is a bit frustrating.

If your student will be playing sports, just hold on to the copy of your physical, concussion form, and cardiac arrest form.  You can upload it directly to Magnus when your link is live.

If you have not turned in a birth certificate or immunization record to the admissions office, please email a copy to Nurse Karen Tressler at ktressler@davidsonacademy.com as soon as possible.

  • Is there a Davidson Academy Handbook?

Yes!  Here is a LINK TO OUR HANDBOOK, and you can also find it under the parent resource portal.
  • My child has a health concern I would like to discuss. Who do we talk to about that?

Davidson Academy has a full-time school nurse.  Her name is Karen Tressler and you can contact her directly at ktressler@davidsonacademy.com or you can call her directly at 615-860-5316.
  • Once school gets started, how can I become involved as a parent?

The DA Parent Association (DAA) is very active and hosts meetings and events throughout the year.  We are currently updating their webpage and will post the link here soon.
The DA Athletic Boosters (DAAB) helps with our various athletic  teams and will also have an updated webpage soon.
  • What type of uniforms does DA require and where can they be purchased?

DA uniforms are purchased through Dennis Uniform.
