Meet Faith Sanderson

Grade: 12th
How long have you been a student at DA?
This is my seventh year!
What is your favorite thing about DA?
My favorite thing about DA is the welcoming environment here. I feel like the faculty and teachers have a positive, Christ-like attitude that make each school day better!
Which class has been your favorite and why?
My favorite class would be 9th grade Honors Biology with Mrs. Breece because she is very intentional in bringing Scripture into our lessons, and her method of teaching is straightforward and clear.
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
The classroom environment at DA is relaxed. I think we as students get a lot out of our class time.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
My favorite DA tradition is either Homecoming Week or going on class trips!
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I am on the Varsity Volleyball team, I am the Junior Class President on Student Council, and I am a Chapel representative. I am also in Key Club.
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
Being a chapel representative this year, has helped me gain confidence in public speaking, and it’s also helped me “lock in” to the chapel messages and worship time.
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school.  How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
Life at DA includes various Bible classes that have specific themes, and some of those classes focus on different sections of the Bible (OT and NT). It also means having weekly chapels, and students are free to start or join Bible studies. This has allowed me to talk about Jesus at school freely. I also led a Middle School Girls’ Bible Study last year.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I would tell someone that it is fairly easy for newcomers to make friends here because DA is intentional about making connections with others. I would also say that DA has amazing class trips each year!
What has DA taught you about being a leader?
DA has taught me that being a Christian leader means standing out among the crowd, even if you don’t want to.
What activities do you participate in outside of school?
I do ballet at Smartt Steps Dance Studio in Hendersonville.
