Meet Lindsey Austin

Grade: 10th
How long have you been a student at DA?
I’m going on eight years!
What is your favorite thing about DA?
How welcoming it is. Everyone knows everyone! We truly are one big family.
Which class has been your favorite and why?
Mrs. Breece’s Honors Biology class!  She is so kind and funny. She makes it easy to learn and understand the material. She always, in some way, manages to bring Christ into every lesson.
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
Warm, welcoming, and especially fun! We manage to laugh and mess around and still complete all of our work.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
There are so many that it’s hard to pick one! Football games are always so much fun. We dress up, we chant, and the student section does this crazy thing whenever the Bears score. They lift a student up on a board and he does pushups for every point we score!
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I am on the clay target team which placed 1st in two different shoots and 1st in regionals last season. I am also a sports manager and I help out our athletic trainer on a daily basis. I am also class president!
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
Last year, I joined the inaugural Clay Target Team. Despite only beginning that year, we are very good. We were always laughing and competing with each other. I was not able to attend state, so after regionals we went to a team favorite, Waffle House! It was super late at night but we all had so much fun!
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school.  How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
We gather for chapel every week and Bible is part of our curriculum. Our teachers weave God into almost every lesson and you can feel the loving arms of God wrapped around our school.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
The DA community is a very welcoming group. We are a constantly growing family!
What has DA taught you about being a leader?
DA has taught me to surround myself with people who will help and support me in all situations. I’ve also learned how to be a good listener.
What activities do you participate in outside of school?
I play piano and ride horses.
