Kelsey Gregory Named Lady Bears Head Basketball Coach

Dear Davidson Academy Family,

Davidson Academy is excited to announce that Kelsey Gregory will join the DA Family as the new head coach for the Lady Bears basketball team.

Kelsey is a graduate of Macon County High School where she was a two-time state basketball tournament runner-up. She then moved to Lipscomb University as a four-year member of the Lady Bison basketball team from 2013-16. After her playing career, Kelsey stayed on as the Director of Basketball Operations for the women’s program 2017-2019.

During the past two years, Kelsey has been an assistant coach for the Nashville Christian girls basketball team.

“I’m (we’re) thrilled to have Kelsey join the DA Family,” said Headmaster Joe Bradley. “I told Kevin Harper (Director of Athletics), three years ago at the regional basketball tournament at BGA, to keep an eye on her progress. ‘Someday she’ll be joining our team. I didn’t know how or when, just knew God spoke that into me that day. ‘She has the girls and her coaches respect. She’s a gem.’”

“Coach Gregory really got our attention during the coaching search,” said Harper. “Her goal is to develop strong Christian females, who continue to grow, learn and never give up. When asked how she defined success, she used the word ‘joy’; followed up with a desire to WIN! Along with her strong work ethic and attention to detail, I feel very blessed to have Kelsey joining our DA Family.”

Kelsey has a true passion for basketball and player development both in the classroom and on the hardcourt.
“It is with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm that I look forward to joining the Davidson Academy community,” said Coach Gregory. “Basketball has always been a big part of my life, and this new opportunity brings both excitement and joy to me, as I begin working with the basketball players, the educators and staff at Davidson Academy. I want to see my players excel both academically and athletically, and I can’t wait to begin working at Davidson Academy.”
