Terri Simmons Named Headmaster of Davidson Academy - October 28, 2021

Dear Faculty, Staff, and DA Families:
As you may know, Davidson Academy has been in search of a new leader to fill the role of Headmaster for our school. The Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs. Terri Simmons as the new Headmaster of Davidson Academy. Terri joined Davidson Academy in January 2021 as our interim High School and Middle School principal after an extensive career in the Robertson County school system and quickly gained the confidence and admiration of the Davidson Academy staff and teaching faculty. Among her many successes while at our school was the placement of Mrs. Sarah Jane Moore as our current High School principal.
Terri developed a personal connection with so many teachers, students, and families at Davidson that she gladly accepted the role of Interim Headmaster upon Headmaster Joe Bradley’s resignation last May. It is this evolution of experience within our community and God’s providence that allow us to make this exciting announcement to the Davidson Academy community today.
We have been blessed to witness the energy and dedication that Terri has poured into our school over this last year and we are equally grateful for the opportunity to now draw upon Terri’s invaluable experience as a teacher, principal, and school administrator as she leads Davidson Academy into its exciting future.
Terri is a devoted Christian that brings a wealth of experience to the Davidson Academy community. Her educational career initially began as an elementary school teacher that transitioned into a middle school principal and ultimately became an executive administrator overseeing more than 1,500 employees within the Robertson County school system. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and earned a master’s degree in Administration and Supervision from Austin Peay State University.
Terri and her husband, Larry, celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this past June. They have three daughters (Carol Ann, Elizabeth, and Katherine) and seven grandchildren; three of which attend Davidson Academy (Anna Katherine ’25, Caroline ’26 and Annsley ’27).
Terri is truly excited to continue her journey with the Davidson Academy community, driven by her deep love for our school, that began as a grandparent and has only increased with her time as an administrator over the last 10 months. We are truly blessed to have the unique opportunity to welcome Terri as our headmaster after witnessing her energy as a vital part of our school’s progress in creating new programs, expanding our staff, and elevating the morale of our entire community.
Davidson Academy is among the most outstanding private schools in our region, and I am humbled by the opportunity to play a part in our growth over the coming years,” said Mrs. Simmons. “I sincerely appreciate the Board of Trustees for placing their confidence in me, and I am honored to work alongside our exceptional administrators, faculty, and staff. We will prayerfully seek God's guidance each day as we continue DA's mission to ‘prepare students for college, life, and eternity’.”
Terri draws upon her faith in Jesus Christ each day and welcomes the unique timing of this opportunity to lead our school. “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord. Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” (Proverbs 16: 2-3)
We are thankful to God for leading us to Terri and opening her heart to His calling to lead our school. God is ever faithful to us, and we pray that He will continue to bless Davidson Academy to the fullest measure. In the words of the prophet, Jeremiah, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV). We pray that we will be ever mindful to honor God and to submit to Him in all things as we strive for our school to become all that God has planned for it.
Thank you for your faith, prayers, support, and love for Davidson Academy.

Sincerely,

Davidson Academy Board of Trustees
