Nate Copeland Named Director of Strength and Conditioning

Davidson Academy is excited to announce that Nate Copeland will join the DA family as the Director of Strength and Conditioning this summer.
Nate is a graduate of Brookstone High School in Columbus where he was an all-state football player, region player of the year, and two-time all-region running back. He also lettered in track where he was two-time all-state and ran the 100m, 4x400, and threw shot and discus. Copeland then moved to Troy University and would later graduate from Faulkner University, where he was an all-Mid-South Conference linebacker. Following college, Nate would continue his career by playing in NFL Europe for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes from 2012-2013, and then the Orebro Black Knights from 2014-2015. He would then continue his professional career in the AFL playing for the Bloomington Edge in 2015 and the LA Kiss in 2016.

Nate has been in sports performance and Strength and Conditioning since 2012. Since his playing career he has served as strength coach at Creekwood High School, Ensworth High School, and most recently Nashville Christian. In his last 3 years at Nashville Christian, he has helped the football program reach the semi-finals two years in a row and the state championship game in 2021. Nate assisted the girls soccer team to an undefeated season in District DII-A, as well as making the semi-finals for the first time in school history. As for girls basketball, he helped contribute to them winning district, reaching the Elite 8, and thus finishing as a top 8 team in the state.
“I’m excited that Nate is coming on board at Davidson Academy,” said Headmaster Terri Simmons. “With Nate’s vast experience in strength and conditioning, he will be an integral member of our athletic department and provide an instant positive impact on our athletic programs, while further preparing our students for college, life, and eternity.”
“This is a big day for Davidson Academy,” said Athletic Director Kevin Harper. “The landscape of our athletic department immediately takes on a whole new look by bringing Nate’s enthusiasm and energy to our campus. His knowledge will be a huge asset to our student athletes moving forward.”
Nate currently lives in Dickson with his wife and daughter.
“After meeting with Coach Harper and Coach (Kelsey) Gregory, I could tell right away Davidson Academy will be a great fit for me and my family,” said Copeland. “I can’t wait to get started and become a big part of the DA family this summer. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at DA.  Go Bears!”
