Ernie Wilson Named New Director of Security

Davidson Academy is excited to announce that Ernie Wilson will be our new Director of Security beginning July 1, 2026. 

Officer Wilson brings over 30 years of law enforcement experience, including 20 years with the Metro Nashville Police Force and 10 years with the Maury County Sheriff's Office. He is highly skilled in emergency response, criminal investigation, enhancing public safety, and fostering community trust. For the past year, he has served as one of DA’s security officers in our Preschool where he has provided outstanding protection to our littlest ones on campus in a big way. 

“After 31 years in law enforcement, I’m focused on trusting God’s plans for a hopeful future at Davidson Academy,” said Officer Wilson. He is excited to begin his new role leading and overseeing Davidson Academy’s comprehensive safety and security program. In this position, he will ensure a secure campus environment while aligning with DA’s Christian mission, values, and biblical principles. This includes providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of campus safety and security. 

Officer Wilson will lead our overall security team, which includes multiple officers on campus each day. Together, they will build on the strong foundation that Officer Steve Slater has laid over the past 7 years and ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors. 

Please join me in welcoming Officer Wilson to his new role and lift him up in prayer, as he and DA make this transition. We praise God for the excellent leadership we have received from Officer Slater and for bringing Officer Wilson to us as we continue our journey.
