Meet Anna Smith

Grade: 11th
How long have you been a student at DA?
9 years
What is your favorite thing about DA?
My favorite thing about DA is the teachers and the incredible atmosphere that feels like family. The teachers go above and beyond the standard to ensure that their students can receive not only the best education, but also a memorable experience. I also love the opportunities that are provided to grow and travel.
Which class has been your favorite and why?
Freshman Biology class has been my favorite. Mrs. Breece is so and caring with her students. She never fails to start each class with prayer, and she is willing to take time to talk to and learn about the personal lives of her students. Not only is she caring, but she teaches in a way that’s understandable and memorable. I would take her class a million times if I could!
How would you describe the classroom environment at DA?
I would describe the DA classroom environment as stress free, fun, and uplifting.
What is your favorite DA tradition?
My favorite DA tradition is field trips with my grade. They are always so much fun and you get to grow closer with your peers.
What activities are you involved in at DA?
I play soccer and tennis!
Choose a DA activity or team that you listed above and describe your experience and how it has impacted you.
One DA activity that has impacted me was the freshman trip to Washington, D.C. On this trip I got to know my teachers better as well as grow lifelong friendships with my peers. I feel like I grew in my independence and had the best time. I also learned so much about U.S. history and grew an appreciation and understanding for past events in our history and grew an appreciation and understanding for past events in our history such as 9/11. The Bible Museum was so impactful and it was an experience that I will never forget.
Davidson Academy is a God-focused school.  How does that impact life at DA and what does it mean to you?
Every day is full of Biblical encouragement and uplifting inspiration to be a light. It means a lot to me to be engaged in a like-minded community.
What would you tell someone who was interested in attending Davidson Academy?
I have loved DA since day one and I can’t imagine going somewhere else. I look forward to going to school every single day.
What has DA taught you about being a leader?
DA has taught me that this world needs bold leaders who are not afraid to share the Gospel and to always to what is right even if you are the only one.
What activities do you participate in outside of school?
I baby sit and I work in the nursery at church.
