Melissa Johnson Named Executive Director of the New Davidson Academy Preschool

NASHVILLE – Davidson Academy is excited to announce Melissa Johnson will join the DA family as our Executive Director of the new Davidson Academy Preschool effective immediately.

 

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). She has an Early Childhood Education Certificate from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Melissa specializes in creating an engaging and educational curriculum that seeks to develop early learning principles and social growth.

 

She has worked as a Junior Kindergarten teacher at St. Paul Christian Academy in Nashville for five years. Prior to that, Melissa held the position of Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Providence Christian Academy (PCA) in Murfreesboro for seven years. During Melissa’s time at PCA, she also served as the school’s After Care Director, where she developed multiple clubs and additional activities to complement the school’s daily curriculum, while being responsible for the safety of more than 40 children ranging in age from three to twelve.

 

“I’m excited that Melissa will become part of our leadership team at Davidson Academy,” said Headmaster Terri Simmons. “We are extremely fortunate to add someone with so much passion and commitment to early childhood development. Her creative vision for the future of our brand-new preschool program and her focus on Christian values will serve the DA community well for many years to come.”

 

Melissa currently lives in Hendersonville with her husband (Chris), their two daughters and her stepson (Braxton), who currently is a sophomore at Davidson Academy.

 

She’s quite familiar with Davidson Academy, as Melissa has served as a substitute teacher at the school.

 

“I have seen firsthand what a wonderful Christian education Davidson Academy provides, and I want to be a part of helping the school continue to grow,” said Johnson. “More than any school I’ve been at previously, Davidson Academy really personifies what it means to be a family. Having been a part of the DA family for the last few years has made me a believer in DA’s mission and DA’s values. I am thrilled to join the team and help build the new Davidson Academy Preschool.”
